We have been busy little sheep here at the shop.
We have been putting together a Fiber Retreat weekend for you!
We have been putting together a Fiber Retreat weekend for you!
We have had a generous invitation by Mark at Sunrise Guest Ranch in Edgemont, SD to see his organically raised sheep and witness a spring shearing! So to make this an acceptable outing, we decided to make a weekend of it, offering classes and spending the night(s) at his GORGEOUS ranch!
(Yes.. that is a Ram standing on the porch. He likes to participate, in everything-- including our tour.)
This is the Guest Ranch Lodge. There are plenty rooms for us to stay in, a HUGE kitchen, and more sheep than we know what to do with. See...
There is a Spinning Wheel in the background there.. He and his Wife are just waiting for us to come, spin, and enjoy his fiber!

Mark's major shearing will be in April,
but he promised to keep a few of the nicest for us to see and feel, still on the sheep. He will shear them for our retreat. Prior sheared Fleeces will be available for purchase when we arrive.

Over the next few months i'm hoping to add spinning wheels... I'm still considering what is the best brand to add, and am doing a bit of research and contacting companies.
We'll have new yarn in for spring in February. can't wait. so....what's on your needles?

adieu and good luck
i am tempted to type lots of trite "all good things come to an end" kind of comments, but i'll try to restrain myself. :-)
for those of you who have been with C. R. Yarn from the beginning, you know that it has been a partnership. that Candis and I decided to open this shop together, and we were going to run it together as well. In September after lots of planning Candis moved to Eugene OR. after lots of thinking on both our parts we decided to part ways. i am in the process of buying Candis out of her share of the business and the shop will be just mine then, i suppose.
i will miss candis's company and advice and number genius. I hope that her move takes her the places that she wants to go. so, adieu and good luck!
tomorrow--what's next for the shop!
