Beginning
knitting: In this 2 hour class you will learn three key elements to
basic knitting - casting on, knit and purl. Instruction will primarily be in
continental style knitting but we will also discuss/engage in English
style knitting as well. Class time is limited so we'll focus on these
basics.
Supplies: yarn will be
supplied, please bring a pair of straight knitting needles,
4mm/US6 preferred but anything up to 5mm/US8 will work fine.
Daria's Bio: Daria grew
up in a fiber-heavy environment. Surrounded by talented fiber-artists, her
youth was marked by ready availability to dreamy yarn and a variety of skilled
teachers and mentors. Her mom taught Daria how to crochet when she was 5. Her
grandmother watched with approval and feeling her
ready, sat down and taught her to knit (at the beach!) at the tender age
of 7. After a brief hiatus during grammar school, Daria came back to strings
and has been making things ever since. Now her passion has extended to creating
unique hand dyed yarns and designs in addition to her continuing addiction to
knitting.
